In A HOUSE DIVIDED, life is close to perfect for Charlotte and Curtis Black — except that their son Matthew's girlfriend, Racquel, is eight months pregnant and Racquel's mother, Vanessa, and Charlotte can barely stand the sight of each other.
On the day of Racquel's baby shower, Charlotte and Vanessa have a major blowup and the stress sends Racquel into early labor. The Reverend Curtis Black saga that shines a spotlight on corruption in the church began in 2000 with the release of CASTING THE FIRST STONE. At the time, Roby had no plans for a series, but over the years readers have shown they can’t get enough of the pastor and his family. “What readers have shared is that they wanted to see more and more of Curtis and his family because they could relate to the storyline surrounding a pastor, his wife and problems in the church,” says Roby. “When I would ask say a room of 100 attendees if they wanted to read more about Curtis and his family, literally 95 to 98 hands would go up.”
