Meet Author Dwan Abrams
Dwan Abrams is a full-time novelist, freelance editor, publisher, speaker and radio show host. She's the best-selling author of Divorcing the Devil, Only True Love Waits, The Scream Within and Favor (a short story appearing in The Midnight Clear anthology).
Her fourth novel, Married Strangers, will be released by Urban Books/Kensington in December 2008. She's also the founder, publisher and editorial director of Nevaeh Publishing, a small press independent publishing house.

Tell us what motivated you to write this book, and start your business.While attending a birthday party for a friend, one of the guests sitting at my table happened to be a psychoanalyst. After speaking with her, I was so impressed that I told her I wanted a character in my book to be a psychoanalyst. That's when I started writing my third novel, Divorcing the Devil. Not long after completing the manuscript I received a traditional publishing deal. I was so happy that I was going to be mainstream published that I started Nevaeh Publishing, a small press independent publishing house, to give new authors the opportunity to become traditionally published.
How do you spend your free time?
I wish that I could spend more time relaxing and vacationing; however, that's not my reality. I actually spend the bulk of my waking hours writing, editing or reading. Even still, I try to spend quality time with my family every day.
How did you feel when you saw your book on the shelf for the first time?
I felt a sense of accomplishment. I was very happy and excited.
Could you image your life without writing today?
Absolutely not. Writing is my passion and my purpose; I could not imagine doing anything that would take me away from writing. Honestly, I wouldn't want to do anything else.
